Although the former county boss has not publicly declared interest in any political seat, his recent activities — including consultative meetings, public addresses and community engagements — have continued to draw attention from both supporters and rivals.
Sources close to the former governor say his outreach has largely focused on reconnecting with grassroots networks, with stops that have included meetings with youth groups, business leaders and local community representatives as leaders begin positioning for the next polls.
Muriithi has also maintained a visible presence in the county through strategic public appearances, including being among leaders who took part in President William Ruto’s recent development tour of Laikipia, a move that further boosted debate around his next political step.
Political analysts say his growing visibility has triggered fresh political realignments within the county, as various camps closely watch whether he will seek a return to the governor’s office or pursue another elective position.
The renewed activity comes amid a shifting political landscape in the Mt Kenya region, with local leaders keenly monitoring emerging alliances and influence ahead of 2027.
Even as calls from some residents and local leaders urging him to seek the county’s top seat again grow louder, Muriithi has remained tight-lipped on his political plans.
Observers, however, continue to rank him among the most influential figures in Laikipia politics, saying his decision on whether — and how — to re-enter the race could reshape the county’s political dynamics in the run-up to the election
