National Construction Authority's Executive Director Eng. Maurice Akech exits office

The departure marks the conclusion of Eng. Akech's final contract term, capping a 12-year career at the regulatory body during which he rose from General Manager of Research and Capacity Building to Acting Executive Director, and ultimately to Executive Director.
In an official public notice, NCA Board of Directors Chairperson Mercy Okiro praised the outgoing director for his service and contributions toward regulating and promoting safety within Kenya's construction sector.
"Under his leadership, NCA strengthened its role as a regulator and champion of professionalism, quality and safety in Kenya's construction industry," Okiro stated.
The Board confirmed that formal transition measures have been implemented to maintain uninterrupted service delivery and operational continuity.
An interim appointment to the Registrar’s office has not yet been publicly named.

Further, the Board has nominated an Acting Chief Executive Officer, QS Susan Rutto, effective 27 August, to provide leadership during the transition period.
QS Susan Rutto is the General Manager, Registration and Compliance and has over 18 years of construction industry professional experience, including being one of the key founding staff members who set up NCA.
