Said Aboubakar’s brace and a goal each from Hassan Charo, Patrick Issak and Swaleh Ali helped Yanga thrash Young Stars 5-3 in an entertaining thriller on the ongoing National Beach Games at Old Buntuwani Waterfront Park in Malindi.

Salim Ali scored two quick fire goals for Young Stars after going down 2-0 to level the scoreline, but Aboubakar inspired his side to victory for setting up Issak for the third goal.

Young Stars also had two glorious opportunities after the break but failed to convert the clear-cut chances, with the defeat knocking them out of the tournament.

Yanga captain Stephen Iha said their experienced players were instrumental in grinding out the victory, adding that they had to do it in the most difficult circumstances.

In a women’s match,  Malindi Queens beat Diani Queens 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
