Police in Narok Central are in hot pursuit of a driver linked to a fatal hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a 69-year-old man in the “London” estate on the outskirts of Narok Town.

The victim, identified as Francis Gitau Njoroge, was reportedly run over by a Canter truck transporting gas cylinders. The driver fled the scene immediately after the incident.

According to Narok Central OCPD Benson Pamba, the suspect later reported the matter via phone, prompting officers to rush to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the deceased and an agitated crowd of residents.

Eyewitnesses have urged the government to enhance road safety measures in the area, describing it as a blackspot with heavy human traffic, especially during the April holiday season.

Police have since moved the body to Narok Level 5 Referral Hospital, while the vehicle involved has been towed to Narok Central Police Station as investigations continue.

OCPD Pamba confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect, identified as Stephen Mwihindi, who is expected to face charges once arrested.
