Parents in Narok County have been urged to encourage their children to learn Chinese, including the language, sports and culture, to help them access education and employment opportunities in China.

Speaking during a school closing ceremony at Blessed Narok Schools in Narok Town, Prof. Zhou Xiaodong, Director of Training at Kenyatta University, said scholarship sponsors were willing to support foreign students pursuing education in China.

Zhou said learning Chinese could also open opportunities in sports and the performing arts, adding that some Kenyans had remained in China after completing their studies.

He noted that proficiency in the language and exposure to Chinese culture could help learners prepare for opportunities in the country.

During the ceremony, pupils entertained guests with dance performances and poetry recitals in Chinese, showcasing their language skills and cultural learning.
