Kenyan police officers at the Namanga One Stop Border Post apprehended a 13-foot python in a bus headed to Nairobi.

During a routine examination of a passenger bus from Dar es Salaam, the snake was found hidden inside a wooden crate that looked like spare car parts.

Police claim that during the search, they discovered the live reptile after noticing abnormalities in the luggage compartment.

At the site, skilled personnel securely removed the nearly 13-foot-long python.

The bus crew has been taken into custody as investigations continue into the origin and intended destination of the snake.

Police said the apprehension was part of continuing anti-smuggling operations.
