Nakuru: Grade Six pupil brutally murdered, body dumped in maize plantation

A Grade Six pupil at Sinendet Primary School in Njoro, Nakuru County, has been found murdered and her lifeless body dumped in a maize plantation.

According to the residents, the child, identified as Mercy Nyambura Mureithi, left home for school on Monday morning but never returned.

Preliminary reports indicate that the girl appeared to have been strangled and her left eye gouged out.

“Mwili ulikuwa umetobolewa jicho left na ni kama alikuwa amenyongwa...officers wakaona vile mwili imefanyika...amenyongwa na kupigwa kichwa upande wa left,” said Sinendet Chief Kiaraho Mwangi.

Locals are demanding justice, insisting that the suspect must be arrested.

“Tulimtafuta kote, tukaskia nduru huko juu tukapata vile mtoto amefanywa...wakaona kanjia kametengenezwa tukapata mtoto vile amefanywa, mtu amemlea kama mtoto mdogo hakuwa mgonjwa tunalaani hiyo kitendo,” a resident, Charity Kiarie, stated.

Another resident, Bernard Kamau, added: “Kwenye hii kitendo ya leo serikali itushikilie, tungefaa serikali iingilie hii jambo tufaidike, wakora wanakuja wanawindwa siku mbili, hiii kitendo hatujaisikia lare, shule ziko ni karibu, tungeomba serikali ifanye justice vijana wameharibika…tuwindiwe kwa serikali.”

Mercy’s body is presently preserved at the Egerton University mortuary.
