Nairobi United forward Kevin Wangaya has been named the Kenya Premier League Player of the Month for April after a string of influential performances that helped his side maintain an unbeaten run during the period.

The 20-year-old attacker earned the individual honour after contributing three goals and three assists in five matches, emerging as one of the standout performers in the league.

His sharp attacking instincts and ability to strike early proved decisive, with Wangaya opening the scoring in three separate matches against Mathare United, Posta Rangers, and Mara Sugar to hand Nairobi United control from the outset.

The Kenya Under-20 international becomes the second youngest player to win the monthly accolade, following Kariobangi Sharks teenage sensation Humphrey Aroko, who claimed the award in February at the age of 17.

Expressing his delight after receiving the recognition, Wangaya said the achievement was both humbling and motivating.

“I’m really honoured to win this award. Seeing Aroko win it earlier in the season was a big motivation because it showed what’s possible.

"I’ve stayed focused, worked hard, and I’m happy to see it paying off,” said Wangaya.

The forward, who has represented Kenya at all youth national team levels and harbours ambitions of featuring for Harambee Stars at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, also played a crucial role in one of the league’s most memorable matches this season.

His two assists against Murang’a Seal helped Nairobi United recover from a 2-0 deficit to secure an impressive 4-2 victory.

“I just try to be ready from the first whistle. If we start strong, the whole team grows into the game.

"But more importantly, we’re fighting for results, and every contribution counts,” he added.

Police FC goalkeeper Daniel Ogembo finished as first runner-up after keeping four clean sheets during the month, while Nairobi United teammate Michael Karamor placed third after scoring five goals.

Nairobi United head coach Godfrey “Solo” Oduor praised Wangaya’s rapid development and backed the youngster to achieve even greater success.

“We challenge our players to push their limits and aim for the highest level, and Wangaya is embracing that.

"He’s been decisive for us, he’s growing in confidence, and this is just the beginning if he stays consistent and hungry,” said Oduor.

For his outstanding performances, Wangaya received a cash prize of KSh50,000 along with a customized trophy.
