Nairobi teacher arrested, confesses to raping pupils

A teacher at Toi Primary School has been arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old pupil at the school.

The suspect is said to have confessed his crimes to police at the Kilimani Police station where he is being held. It is alleged that he said he had engaged in the heinous act for six years.

According to the child’s mother the act took place two weeks ago.

Area OCPD Michael Muchiri together with the TSC County Director Benard Chesari confirmed the incident saying that investigations into the matter are underway.

Activists are calling upon the government to address the issue of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGVB) appealing Education CS Amina Mohamend to look into the issue with urgency.

Cases of defilement of pupils by teachers have become rampant leaving parents a worried for their children.
