The Nairobi County Government has refuted claims that title deeds for the Pangani Affordable Housing Project and Jeevanjee Bachelors Estate are missing from its registry.

In a statement, Nairobi County Secretary Godfrey Akumali assured the public that the title deed for the 5.2-acre Pangani estate land, registered as Nairobi/Block 40/474, remains secure.

According to Akumali, the document is currently held by Muriu, Mungai, and Company Advocates, a law firm representing Nairobi Pangani Estate Limited, the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) managing the project.

“The firm is facilitating the processing of sectional titles for the housing units being developed on the property. The certificate of lease for Pangani Estate was registered in the name of Nairobi City County on March 16, 2018, and later transferred to the SPV on September 20, 2018. No title is lost,” Akumali clarified.

Chief Officer for Urban and Housing Renewal, Lydia Mathia, reported that construction of the Pangani Affordable Housing Project is 45% complete.

“The developer aims for full completion by the end of 2026, with partial handovers every four months starting in January 2025,” Mathia said.

Regarding the Jeevanjee Bachelors Housing Project, the county confirmed that the title deed for the estate, registered as LR No. 209/5458, is held by the National Bank of Kenya. The document was registered under Nairobi Bachelors Estate Limited, another SPV managing the project, and was used as collateral to secure funding for the affordable housing initiative.

Mathia provided an update on the Jeevanjee project, stating that construction is 46% complete.

“The affordable housing units will be ready by December 2025, while market units will be finalized by September 2026,” she noted.
