The operation, conducted in collaboration with the National Police Service (NPS) and the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA), also led to the arrest of suspects linked to the alleged illegal trade.
The vodka, packaged in 250ml bottles under the Starlid brand, was recovered from a liquor store during the raids.
In a separate operation at a nearby shop, officers seized 96 small rolls of dry plant material, six small brown sachets and three medium sachets containing plant matter suspected to be narcotic drugs.
The officers also recovered 31 brown rolling papers, eight whitish rolling papers and KSh25,840 in cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade. Ledgers and a lease agreement were also seized as part of the investigation.
NACADA said a shop attendant was arrested at the premises where the suspected narcotics were recovered, while the owner of the liquor store was also apprehended.
Speaking after the operation, NACADA chief executive officer Anthony Omerikwa said collaboration among enforcement agencies was critical in addressing the sale of suspected counterfeit alcohol and illicit drugs.
“The seizure of these 216 pieces of suspected illicit vodka, combined with the narcotics haul, represents a significant victory for the community of Gwa Kairu,” Omerikwa said.
“We are not just fighting drugs; we are fighting the criminal enterprises that seek to poison our people for profit. The arrest of the shop attendant and the liquor store owner should serve as a stern warning. We will continue to work with all relevant agencies to ensure that those who break the law face the full force of justice.”
Omerikwa said NACADA would continue working with other government agencies to combat the illegal alcohol and drug trade.
The seized products are suspected to be illicit, and their classification will depend on the outcome of the relevant investigations and verification processes.
