A National Intelligence Service (NIS) officer aged 56 years
has been found dead in his official residence in Nyamira town.
Confirming the incident, Nyamira County Commissioner Benson
Leparimorijo said the body of David Kipkoech Kosgey, who has been the head of County
Intelligence Coordination, was discovered in the house where he lived alone at
around mid-day when suspicion heightened over his whereabouts.
According to Leparimorijo, Kosgey was to travel to Nairobi for
official duty but when he could not be found by his juniors on Friday morning,
worries emerged, forcing the officers to break into his house located just
next to the County Commissioner's residence.
Leparmorijo said the officer had vomited a lot of blood and
that there were signs of a struggle within the area where his body was
discovered.
He said the door was found locked from inside and had
to be broken down by the officers in order to gain entry. The County Commissioner however
added that there were no physical injuries on the deceased’s body.
The house has since been cordoned off as a crime scene and detectives
visited the site as investigations commence.
The body of the deceased is presently preserved at the Nyamira
County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
