MyCredit, a leading digital credit provider, has donated
Ksh.500,000 to the WEDCO Youth Program in a bid to support vulnerable young
Kenyans with essential life skills, entrepreneurship training, and mental
health support.
The donation is part of MyCredit’s broader commitment to promoting economic inclusion, job creation, and youth empowerment.
“This partnership with WEDCO aligns perfectly with our
mission at MyCredit, which is to provide opportunities that unlock economic
potential,” said MyCredit CEO Wangaruro Mbira.
“We are proud to stand behind a program that’s not only training young people in practical business and financial literacy but also nurturing the mindset and well-being necessary for long-term success.”
The latest support from MyCredit comes at a time when nearly
40 per cent of Kenyan youth are unemployed, and many lack access to
post-secondary education or vocational training.
“Every shilling donated is not just funding a class, it’s fueling transformation,” said WEDCO Program Director Wanja Kiragu.
“Thanks to MyCredit’s support, we can offer an immersive, life-changing
experience that opens new doors for Kenya’s youth.”
WEDCO, the non-profit community-based organisation which also runs a
three-month Youth Entrepreneurship and Life Skills Program, has so far had 160
graduates across six cohorts who have launched micro-enterprises and begun
mentoring peers in their communities.
