Mwaura bids farewell to Government Spokesperson staff following reassignment

Outgoing Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has held a farewell meeting with staff from the Office of the Government Spokesperson following his reassignment by President William Ruto.

President Ruto recently appointed Mwaura as the Head of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Disability Rights in the Executive Office of the President.

The farewell meeting brought together the office's 80-member staff, drawn from its six departments, for an afternoon of reflection, appreciation, and institutional review.

The gathering provided an opportunity to look back on the office's progress since Mwaura assumed office on October 5, 2023, as the fifth Government Spokesperson under the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Addressing the staff, Mwaura described the institution's growth as a collective achievement driven by dedication, professionalism and teamwork.

"Every milestone we have achieved carries the fingerprints of every member of this team. I may be leaving this office, but the institution we built together will continue serving Kenyans for many years to come," he said.

He urged the officers to remain committed to excellence while embracing innovation in public communication.

"One person does not build institutions. They are built by people who believe in a shared vision. Continue supporting one another, continue learning and never stop striving to communicate truthfully and professionally," Mwaura added.

Staff members, in turn, paid tribute to Mwaura's leadership and mentorship, crediting him with creating opportunities for professional growth, skills development and excellence in public communication.

They also praised the collaborative work environment fostered during his tenure, saying it encouraged creativity, accountability and teamwork while upholding high professional standards.

In his new role as Head of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Disability Rights, Mwaura will spearhead national efforts to promote diversity and inclusion while advancing the rights and representation of persons with disabilities and other marginalised groups.

"While my assignment is changing, my commitment to serving Kenya remains the same. I look forward to this new responsibility with the same passion and dedication that has guided me throughout my career," Mwaura said.
