Murkomen dismisses Gachagua's 'government informers' claim as lies

Murkomen, who joined Ruto for Sunday service at ACK St Stephen's Chepkoilel in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, accused Gachagua of spreading rumours and attempting to portray himself as having access to confidential government information.

"Nilikuwa naona juzi mtu anasimama tu anaanza kusema oow ati Rais ataeenda kuzindua Vision 2060 nimeambiwa na NIS, nimeambiwa na DCI na ni uwongo tupu," Murkomen said.

The Cabinet Secretary said Ruto had announced on his Facebook page, early on the morning of July 27, that he would speak about the country's future, before the report was unveiled. According to Murkomen, Gachagua's claims were intended to create the impression that he has a network of informers within the security establishment.

"We were brought in by Anyang' Nyong'o and the team. That morning on the 27th, before even unveiling this report, your excellency, you had already posted on your Facebook very early in the morning that you are going to speak about the future of Kenya. Now someone wants to posture around and lie to the people of Kenya who may not have had prior information, to say that he has very special information just because he wants to appear as if he is running some clandestine security sector," Murkomen said.

The Interior CS criticised Gachagua's statements on the country's security agencies, saying it was irresponsible for a former deputy president to politicise national security matters.

"This is the first time in the history of Kenya since 1963 that we have had the most irresponsible leader who has occupied the highest office in the land," Murkomen added.

His remarks come after Gachagua alleged that people working inside State House regularly share confidential information about Ruto's plans with him, saying he received details about the President's planned address hours before it was delivered on Thursday.
