Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen has declared Monday, 31st March 2025, a public holiday to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Murkomen made the announcement through a gazette notice on Friday.

“It is notified for the general information of the public that, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares that Monday, the 31st March, 2025, shall be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr,” the notice reads.

Eid-ul-Fitr, which means "Festival of Breaking the Fast," is one of the most significant holidays in the Islamic calendar.

It marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection observed by Muslims worldwide.
