Murang'a Governor Kang'ata joins Gachagua's DCP

The move to DCP comes one week after the governor dumped his United Democratic Alliance party (UDA) and joined Linda Mwananchi, led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

A happy Gachagua welcomed the political heavyweight to his party, sharing the news on his social media platforms on Friday evening.

"Welcome home, Governor Irungu Kang'ata, where you belong. Today at Wamunyoro Residence, I was pleased to receive my younger brother, Governor Irungu Kang'ata, Governor of Murang'a County, as a member of our party, DCP, the party of the moment and the future," he said.

Gachagua, coming off a major win in the recently held by-elections in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua, could not contain his excitement about DCP's growing political muscle.

"We now have a Member of the National Assembly and three Members of the County Assemblies from across the Country, reflecting the face of Kenya. As we prepare for the next General Election, we are determined to be the majority party in both Houses and the majority across County Assemblies.

The news of Kang'ata joining DCP will catch many by surprise, especially after Gachagua attacked him in the lead-up to the Ol Kalou by-elections for campaigning in the constituency.

"I want to tell my brother Irungu Kang'ata, I heard him say he wants to come with Linda Mwananchi to Ol Kalou; we don't need you there unless you are coming for another party. Irungu Kang'ata cannot come to campaign on the last day, and he does not know the candidate..." said Gachagua.
