KPA lost the best-of-five final series 3-0 to defending champions Nairobi City Thunder but pushed their opponents close, nearly ending their remarkable unbeaten run in the title playoffs.
The Dockers lost Game One 78-67 and Game Two 72-63 in Mombasa before falling 74-70 in Game Three in Nairobi as Thunder clinched their third consecutive league title without losing a game across their three championship-winning seasons.
Mugabe believes his team has made significant progress and is considering strengthening the squad with one or two new players as he plots another title challenge.
“With my first season, I think we have improved greatly. Going into next season, we might add one or two players and see if we can improve further and try to win the title next year,” said Mugabe.
The coach, however, insists that individual and collective improvement will be key to closing the gap on Thunder.
He added that the team must return to the drawing board, refocus and build on the progress made this season as they seek to turn their improved performances into a championship-winning campaign.
