Mudavadi says Kindiki should retain Deputy President position in 2027

Speaking in Tharaka Nithi County during the launch of the new county headquarters, Mudavadi praised Kindiki as an able deputy to President William Ruto, saying retaining the current leadership would help sustain ongoing development projects.

Mudavadi said Kindiki's conduct in office and his working relationship with President Ruto make him the preferred choice to continue serving as Deputy President beyond the 2027 General Election.

“Chini ya serikali ya broad-based tutazidi kufanya kazi kwa pamoja, na nataka kusema kiti cha Deputy President itasalia kuwa ya Prof. Kithure Kindiki sababu ameonyesha wazi kwamba ni mwaminifu kwa Rais William Ruto and he is loyal,” Mudavadi stated.

Flanked by a host of leaders from Tharaka Nithi, Mudavadi also called for closer cooperation between UDA and ODM as the two parties strategise on how to secure victory in the 2027 General Election.

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki, meanwhile, criticised leaders who continue to rely on insults, saying such an approach would not help them win the election.

“Kuna watu ambao wanaendelea kurusha matusi kila siku. Huwezi win election kama hiyo ndio njia,” Njuki stated.

As Mudavadi spoke in Tharaka Nithi, a few kilometres away in Meru County, Kindiki was deepening his political presence in the Mt Kenya region.

In Kanyakine, Imenti South, the Deputy President used the launch of roads and other development projects worth an estimated Ksh.39 billion to showcase the government's development record.

Kindiki urged residents not to listen to opposition leaders whom he accused of making empty promises, challenging them to consider what they delivered while they were in government.

“Msisikize wale watu ambao wanakuja hapa na maneno matupu kwani wakati walikuwa kwa ofisi waliwafanyia nini?” Kindiki stated.

But Kindiki's message was not confined to development. He also turned his guns on opposition leaders, challenging them to prepare for what he described as a competitive 2027 political contest.

“Sisi tuko na track record, huwezi kuwa tu eti kila wakati ni kusema tu Kasongo, Soprano na huna agenda. Hii maneno ya nickname ni utoto, alafu kuna watu wanasema niachane na yeye, nimwache aje na ananikaranga kila siku,” Kindiki stated.

Kindiki called on government supporters in Mt Kenya and across the country to prepare for the 2027 contest, urging his political opponents to conduct themselves with restraint.

“Mimi nauliza wale tunashindana nao, sisi tunawaheshimu, ila tunawaomba wawe na nidhamu, na wapunguze kiburi yao,” Kindiki stated.

His message was that government supporters should defend the administration's record at the ballot box and give President Ruto a second term.
