Mt Kenya East will remain firmly in government and will not be intimidated by political forces from other parts of the Mt Kenya region, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has declared, saying the region now has its own leader at the helm of national leadership and is determined to support him to succeed President William Ruto in 2032.

Speaking in Embu, CS Ruku said no amount of pressure or political intimidation from leaders in Mt Kenya West would shake the resolve of the people of Mt Kenya East, who have resolved to unite behind Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki.

The Cabinet Secretary said the region had for many years supported the broader Mt Kenya political agenda but had not received a fair share of development commensurate with its political loyalty.

CS Ruku argued that the time had come for Mt Kenya East to speak with one voice and pursue a common political direction that safeguards the interests of its people while strengthening its bargaining power at the national level.

He said the region's continued presence in government was critical to accelerating development and ensuring residents benefit from national projects and programmes.

According to CS Ruku, Deputy President Kindiki remains the undisputed political leader of Mt Kenya East and the region is fully behind his leadership both within the current administration and beyond President Ruto's tenure.

He said residents had already made up their minds to support Kindiki's political journey, expressing confidence that the Deputy President possesses the leadership qualities required to unite the region and advance its development agenda.

CS Ruku challenged leaders from Mt Kenya West to reciprocate the political support they have enjoyed from the eastern region over the years, saying political partnerships must be based on mutual respect and shared benefits.

"If that support is not forthcoming, then Mt Kenya East will have no option but to make its own political choices," he said.

At the same time, CS Ruku called on Mt Kenya East residents and Kenyans at large to support President Ruto's bid for a second term, arguing that the administration has made significant progress in implementing development projects despite facing a challenging global economic environment. He said the government had remained focused on delivering its promises amid global economic disruptions, inflationary pressures and other international challenges that have affected many countries.

The Cabinet Secretary said President Ruto's administration had demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of ordinary Kenyans through investments in infrastructure, affordable housing, universal healthcare, electricity connectivity and water projects. He noted that continuity in leadership would enable the government to complete ongoing projects and consolidate the gains already achieved.

CS Ruku praised the administration of President Ruto and Deputy President Kindiki for accelerating development projects across the country since taking office.

He cited ongoing investments in roads, electricity connectivity and water infrastructure, saying the projects were already transforming livelihoods in many parts of Mt Kenya East.

CS Ruku urged residents to remain united and continue supporting the Kenya Kwanza administration, expressing confidence that a politically organized and cohesive Mt Kenya East would be better positioned to secure more development opportunities and economic growth in the years ahead. End
