MP Njeri Maina champions PwD inclusion in schools

Maina spoke at Raimu Integrated Primary School during the handover of a fully equipped dormitory constructed under the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) Board’s Best Practice Demonstration Programme.

She said the facility would improve access to residential services for learners with special needs and reduce physical barriers that can limit their participation in education.

“All children deserve an equal opportunity to access quality education,” Maina said, adding that special-needs learners should have accessible facilities within their schools.

The Woman Representative later presided over the issuance of National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) cheques to several community-based organisations in Gatunguru.

The funds are intended to support community initiatives and improve the economic capacity of vulnerable groups.

Maina also urged young people in the county to avoid being drawn into political violence, particularly during periods of heightened political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“I urge our youth to reject any attempts by politicians to use them as instruments of violence. Do not allow yourselves to be recruited into political clashes that destroy your future,” she said.

The events were attended by Kirinyaga Senator Kamau Murango and local leader David Mathenge, who joined calls for improved access to education, equitable distribution of development resources and peaceful political engagement.
