Tens of vehicles made a beeline on the side of the road in Nyambari area within Kiambu county – many disembarking from their vehicles to touch and kick snow for the first time in their lives.
Silas Otieno, who was part of a funeral procession travelling from Kinangop to Nairobi, told Wananchi Reporting that it was his first time to see and touch natural snow.
“I see snow in the movies, but I have never had a chance to experience snow falling from the sky. It is so cold,” he said.
Many (adults and children) travellers could be seen running on the 'snow' covered grass – and playing harmless ‘shooting’ games with the tiny snow pebbles.
Villagers could only watch from a distance – obviously shocked to see adults hugging snow.
“I have seen it snow around this place a few times, but todays is quite massive,” said James Maina, a driver 'caught up' in the little snow adventure.
This is not the first time there has been reported cases of ‘snow’ -- with the Kenyan Meteorological Department describing the phenomenon as aggressive hail storm.
