Mother and child killed after electric pole collapses on house in Malindi

Two people, a mother and her child, died on Friday in Maweni, Malindi Constituency, after an electric pole collapsed onto their home.
The incident occurred while the mother of seven was carrying out her usual household activities. Another child from the family sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Malindi Sub-County Hospital.
The bodies of the deceased were moved to Malindi Hospital mortuary, with funeral arrangements set to follow Islamic rites.
Residents in the area have blamed the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), accusing the utility of ignoring their long-standing requests to repair faulty poles in the neighbourhood.
