The funding is expected to ease the financial demands of running the team, including travel, accommodation, meals, equipment and match-day operations.
The three-season agreement, which runs from 2026/27 to 2028/29, will provide Mombasa Rugby with Sh1.5 million annually. It is with logistics firm Mitchell Cotts Freight Kenya Limited, which previously served as the club's kit sponsor during the 2025/26 season.
Mombasa Rugby chairman Rogers Otieno Lai says the additional resources will help the club strengthen its operations as it seeks to regain its place in the country's top-flight competition.
The Coast side begins its Kenya Rugby Championship campaign away to South Coast Pirates on November 21, 2026.
The 11-match season runs until March 13, 2027, with five fixtures scheduled at Mombasa Sports Club.
The agreement will also extend to the club's age-grade and community rugby programme, which provides young players along the Coast with a pathway into senior rugby under a safeguarding policy.
For Mombasa, the immediate task is to translate the improved financial backing into performances on the pitch and mount a credible challenge for promotion to the Kenya Cup.
