More than 50 people whose houses were demolished in Utange area, Mombasa county have written to the office of Director of Public Prosecution seeking justice and compensation.

They are accusing some individuals of not respecting the law and using security officials to carry out illegal demolitions despite court orders blocking the same.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday evening, the residents claimed they had lost their homes and properties worth millions of shillings across the country due to illegal demolitions carried out by hired goons.

Silas Musa and Omar Munga alleged they were among 50 people who were kicked out of their homes in Utange in Kisauni Sub county last week despite the controversial land matter pending determination in court.

This comes only a few days after a section of businessmen expressed concerns over alleged land invasion in Mombasa county by people posing as squatters.
