Kesses legislator Julius Ruto has called on Moi University management to conduct downsizing of its workforce in a way devoid of victimisation and discrimination.

Speaking in Kesses, Ruto noted that it's true that personnel emoluments at the institution are too high,h but the manner in which the exercise has been done is inhuman.

Ruto said the exercise was done without public participation, which could have seen a large number of workers deciding to move out on their own volition.

He has called on the Cabinet Secretary for education to ensure he adheres to the agreement made during his visit to the institution.

This week, Moi University issued redundancy letters to hundreds of employees as it reports that the institution is overstaffed.

The University says the influx of staff is after several of it's campuses were given charters forcing staff to return to the main campus.

However, the redundancy notices were later suspended by the High Court in Eldoret.

In a ruling delivered by Lady Justice Maureen Onyango on Thursday, the court ordered the suspension of the letters, pending the hearing and determination of a petition filed by the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU).
