Matiang'i accuses Ruto of misusing public resources to host State House delegations

Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Dr. Fred Matiang'i has renewed his criticism of President William Ruto, accusing him of using public resources to host delegations at State House while many Kenyans continue to grapple with the high cost of living.

Speaking at the close of a two-day political tour of Kuria East in Migori County, Matiang'i, alongside other opposition leaders, also alleged that the Kenya Kwanza administration is laying the groundwork to manipulate the 2027 General Election.

Jubilee Party leaders intensified their grassroots mobilisation campaign with a series of political rallies across Kuria East as the party stepped up its nationwide political outreach.

Led by Dr. Matiang'i, the team traversed Kugitimo, Senta and Gwitembe along the Ntumaru–Transmara border, rallying support ahead of next year's General Election.

Addressing supporters, Matiang'i accused President Ruto of focusing on political survival instead of addressing the country's economic challenges, while alleging that public resources were being used to bankroll political engagements at State House.

"Sasa kazi yake ni survival, apite kura ama aibe kura ahonge watu asurvive kwa uchaguzi na wananchi wanahangaika.... we have received warnings ata hii maneno ya El Nino mmeona serikali inajipanga, kazi ni kuhonga watu, badala ya kufanya kazi, biashara ni kuhonga watu," Matiang'i said.

Kitutu Chache South MP Antony Kibagendi also criticised the President over the continued hosting of delegations at State House, alleging that taxpayers' money was being used to influence political support.

"Leo ameita wazee wa kijiji Nairobi, masheikh na ata watchmen, pesa yetu unaiba unapeleka State House kuhonga watu...2027 tukipiga kura tutabaki station, eti wanataka Murkomen ndio achunge kura na askari wawili kila station," said Kibagendi.

The opposition leaders urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and protect the integrity of next year's General Election, claiming there were attempts to manipulate the outcome.

They also criticised Parliament, accusing the leadership of failing in its oversight role and enabling corruption.

"Kuna mtu mwingine ameharibu nchi yetu, yeye anakaa kule Bunge, he has presided over the nonsensical selling of Parliament…Parliament imenunuliwa na Ruto, kama wanataka kunifukuza one more time nifukuze...." Kibagendi added.

The leaders further highlighted a long-running land dispute in Gwitembe, accusing influential individuals of illegally acquiring land belonging to local residents.

"Unaezaje kuamka asubuhi alafu unapata shamba yako imewekwa seng’enge, hiyo ni maneno gani hiyo?" Posed Jubilee Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta.

Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gesairo added: "Hii taifa si yako, kibarua ulipewa ya miaka mitano na August unaenda nyumbani."

Matiang'i pledged that a future Jubilee-led administration would revoke titles to land found to have been acquired illegally.

"Wako tayari kuuwa ata watu ili wachukue mashamba hapa, tukiingia we shall cancel all the lands illegally acquired," he said.

Jubilee leaders also declared Matiang'i as their preferred presidential candidate, saying he is best placed to challenge President Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

"Hii Kenya inataka kiongozi ambaye akisema amesema... na ndio maana tunasema Matiang'i ni kifaru ya kazi," noted Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Jeremiah Kioni.

The Jubilee Party caravan now heads to Kisii County as it continues its nationwide political mobilisation campaign.

As the Jubilee Party continues with its charm offensive in Kuria East and Kuria West constituencies, the leaders have called on their supporters across the country to remain vigilant against what they claim are attempts by the Kenya Kwanza administration to manipulate the outcome of the 2027 General Election.
