Martin Koyabe appointed non-executive chairperson for Cybersecurity Agency

Koyabe’s appointment was announced in a Gazette Notice Number 13506 under the State Corporations (National Cybersecurity Agency) Order, 2026, released on Friday.

Prior to his appointment, Koyabe served as the Founding Partner and Technical Director at Africa Cyber Expertise.

His role included providing ACE solution design and delivery oversight and leading the design and quality assurance of ACE's technical engagements, from national cybersecurity assessments and maturity models to strategy development, regulatory advisory, and CCB programme design.

The government had announced plans to establish a National Cybersecurity Agency in December last year with an aim to protect citizens’ data, secure government systems and position the country as a regional hub for cyber resilience, ICT and the digital economy.

In June 2026, Parliament approved the creation of the agency as a body tasked with coordinating Kenya’s cybersecurity efforts and protecting the country’s rapidly expanding digital infrastructure.

Then, the Ministry of Interior said the approval was a major milestone in strengthening the country's capacity to prevent, detect and respond to cyber threats

The President has now made the appointment to operationalise the NCSA.
