Azimio la Umoja co-principal Martha Karua has voiced her dissatisfaction with the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report released last week.

The report, compiled by a 10-member team, provided recommendations on various issues including matters of elections management, economic recovery strategy and cost of living.

These factors have been the root cause of ongoing disagreements between the ruling Kenya Kwanza government and the opposition since the 2022 polls, resulting in a continuous stalemate between the two factions.

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Karua labeled the report troubling, problematic and unacceptable, while adding that she would provide a more comprehensive statement on the same next week.

"I find the NADCO report troubling, problematic and unacceptable. A more detailed statement loading in the coming week," said Karua.

Karua's sentiments come six days after the Narc-Kenya boss announced that she would reject the NADCO report if it does not address the high cost of living, electoral justice and respect for multiparty democracy.

"Any purported agreement that does not immediately impact on the cost of living, electoral justice and respect for multiparty democracy is a fraud on the people and must be rejected," Karua said in a social media post on Saturday, November 25.

Karua's then declaration was preceded by the committee admitting in the report that it was "unable to reach a consensus on several other proposals on the matter of cost of living, including the reduction of VAT on fuel from 16% to 8%, and scrapping of the housing levy, the twin issues in the Finance Act 2023."

She had earlier warned that  NARC Kenya will return to the streets if the NADCO report fails to yield desirable results.
