Maraga told the government to seriously take the advisory issued by the weatherman on the pending heavy downpour that risks causing a deluge in the country.
The former CJ blamed the government for not allocating a budget to mitigate the effects of floods, which have the potential of becoming a disaster in the county.
"Having known this since February, we would have expected that the budget this year would have been very, very specific," said Maraga.
Maraga urged the state to speedily initiate mitigation plans as early as possible, including invoking a supplementary budget to handle the crisis.
Speaking at the party headquarters here in Nairobi, the government should also map areas prone for floods and seal the risk gap before the rains.
"So, we are urging this government to really come out and do its job. They are wasting money in Ol Kalou, for example, bribing voters. The amount of money they have wasted in Ol Kalou and ended up getting nothing could have been used to do proper disaster management," said Maraga.
