Former Chief Justice David Maraga has told Kenyans that if elected President in 2027 elections, he will maintain integrity and avoid any conflict of interest.

In a social media post on Wednesday, Maraga said he would not allow his family or friends to do business with the government.

"I will not steal from you and will not allow anybody to steal your money," the former Chief Justice stated.

The presidential contender also promised to ensure adherence to the law, so as to grow Kenya’s economy and fix the country's ailing healthcare and education systems.

Maraga has been at the forefront in faulting the Kenya Kwanza administration for atrocities such as disregard for the constitution and human rights.

Last month, the former CJ pointed out the empowerment programmes spearheaded by Kenya Kwanza leaders as avenue for theft of public funds.

“These things you are told are empowerment …. What for? You are given Ksh.1000, how long will that take you? First ask yourself where it is coming from,” Maraga addressed a town hall in Kirinyaga.

Maraga has also assured transparency and accountability in handling funds contributed to his presidential campaign.

“My commitment to you, as best as humanly possible, guided by integrity and constitutional fidelity, is that of complete transparency, accountability, and in the responsible handling of your resources, data, time and effort,” said Maraga.
