Man’s wrist ripped off after suspected IED explodes on him in Mandera

According to a police report, Adan Mohamed, 35, was suspected to have been carrying the device when it exploded on him at around 6:30pm in the Bula Buruburu area.

Police officers from the Kenya Police Service, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), General Service Unit (GSU) and National Police Reservists (NPRs) responded to the scene after an explosion was heard from the area.

A TECNO mobile phone and a piece of metallic material were recovered at the scene.

Mohamed was taken to Mandera Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

The Counter-Terrorism Bureau in Mandera is handling the case as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and the nature of the suspected explosive device.
