Detectives in Buruburu have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly murdered his 21-year-old girlfriend, Fransisca Wanja Thuranira, in Nairobi's Umoja Two Estate.

Confirming the incident, Buruburu DCIO Simon Kirui explained that a specialised team of detectives is hunting the suspect, who is the prime suspect in the murder.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim's aunt, Agrippina Meme, left her niece at her second-floor apartment before heading to work. Around midday, she became suspicious after her repeated phone calls to Wanja went unanswered.

Sensing something was wrong, Meme requested a neighbour to check on the apartment. Moments later, the neighbour revealed that the apartment's front door was unlocked and Wanja’s lifeless body was lying on the lower deck of a double-decker bed.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers from Buruburu were dispatched to the scene for processing and documentation.

A preliminary examination revealed that the young woman had been stabbed eight times in the chest, with officers suspecting that the murder stems from a love gone sour.

Wanja’s body was transferred to the Mama Lucy Kibaki Referral Hospital Morgue as investigations into the homicide continue.
