Manchester United has agreed to sign Bayern Munich stalwart Bastian Schweinsteiger, subject to a medical and personal terms.

The 30-year-old World Cup-winning German is reported to have favoured the Premier League giants over other clubs with Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirming that the move is as good as done.

“Bastian wants to do something new at the end of his career,” Rummenigge said at a news conference. “He asked that we meet his wishes.

“My colleagues at Manchester United have been in touch. We’ve reached an agreement over a transfer.

The midfielder is set to the 20-time English top flight champions, in a transfer fee in the region of 15 million euros.

Earlier this month, Bayern head coach Pep Guardiola gave his blessing for the experienced Schweinsteiger to manage his own career, with his deal at the Allianz Arena set to expire at the end of next year.
