Man hacks wife to death, commits suicide in Bomet

A domestic disagreement on Saturday night turned tragic when a man hacked his wife to death before taking his own life in Sotik area, Bomet County.

The 38-year-old man hacked his wife with a machete and she succumbed while being rushed to the Kaplong mission hospital.

He then hang himself from a tree and his body was retrieved on Monday morning.

Area Chief Geoffrey Baretiet said the genesis of their domestic conflict still hasn’t been established, noting that the man had previously attempted to kill himself by taking poison on two separate occasions.

Mr. Baretiet said the couple had disagreed for a long time and efforts  to get them to solve their issues didn’t materialize.

The bodies of the deceased have since been moved to the Kapkatet mortuary.
