Man found dead in suspected suicide in Embu

Residents of Karurumo Market in Kyeni South Ward, Runyenjes Constituency, Embu County, are in shock after the body of a young man was found hanging inside his house in a suspected suicide.

The incident was confirmed by area Nyumba Kumi senior elder Edward Nyaga, who said he was alerted by the deceased's family before proceeding to the scene.

According to Nyaga, relatives became concerned after the man failed to report to work as usual.

They found the house locked from the inside and, after forcing the door open, discovered his body hanging.

Nyaga expressed concern over the rising number of similar incidents involving young people in the area, attributing the trend to drug and substance abuse and the proliferation of illicit brews.

He urged young people facing personal challenges to seek support from family members, religious leaders, elders, or professional counselors.

Police have launched investigations into the incident, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
