Man detained at police station in Nandi tests positive for COVID-19

Nandi County health department is on high alert after a detainee at Songhor Police Station in Tinderet constituency tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Nandi County Health CEC Ruth Koech, the detainee had been in contact with nine other detainees at the station thereby raising concerns that the situation might yield more cases.

She hence said other detainees and people living around the station will be tested on Sunday and necessary action taken incase of any developments.

“Our team is already on the ground, they’re doing contact tracing, they’re advising people who are around that area to be tested,” said the CEC.
