A man has been charged in a Kisumu court for allegedly impersonating Supreme Court Judge Justice William Ouko and defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

Leakey Oduor denied the charge of impersonation when he appeared before the Kisumu Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti and was released on a Ksh.500,000 bond or an alternative of Ksh. 250,000 cash bail.

Oduor had been arrested on December 8, 2023, in Migori County and subsequently appeared before a Kiambu court on December 11 before being directed to take a plea in Kisumu where most of the alleged crimes are said to have happened.

Police investigations indicated that the suspect has residences in Nairobi, Kakamega, and Migori counties, from where he is suspected to be operating his fraudulent activities.

The allegations against the suspect involve the fraudulent use of Justice William Ouko’s identity which he allegedly used to solicit and receive money in the name of securing his victims employment in various institutions.

Ogoti directed the matter be heard on January 8, 2024.
