In Nakuru County, education officials are investigating an alleged case of examination impersonation at Rohi Boys High School, a private school in Nakuru North.
Nakuru County Director of Education Victoria Mulili says a 31-year-old man is being held at Lanet Police Station after sitting the KCSE examinations on behalf of a candidate since Monday.
The whereabouts of the candidate remain unknown, although authorities believe the two are close acquaintances.
"The DCI has gone with the impersonator; the matter is being investigated, we have arrested one case of impersonation; it is wrong, against the law,” said Nakuru Director of Education Victoria Mulili.
This as a Kibabii University student who was arrested in Bungoma over allegations of circulating examination materials was arraigned and released on a twenty thousand shilling cash bail and allowed to resume studies.
According to Bungoma County Police Commander Omar Arero, investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, who inspected the opening of an examination container in Nairobi's Kibra estate, expressed concerns over the growing number of candidates who have failed to report to examination centres.
"In Nairobi…we have 13 cases……We plead with chiefs to help us look for these students. The most affected areas are those in informal settlements of Nairobi. One person was already arrested on Tuesday for claiming to have the exam paper,” said Ogamba.
The examinations have also been hit by cases of deaths, with the candidates' death toll now climbing to three.
"Conjestina Achieng of Homa Bay... Cornelius Kiplagat... Vivian Adhiambo of Gem who was murdered and a suspect already in custody,” Ogamba added.
