Man admitted after wife attacks him using ‘mwiko’

A 39-year-old man is nursing injuries at the Machakos Hospital after he was attacked by his wife using a cooking stick.

According to Mbooni OCPD James Barasa, a domestic dispute between the man, Sammy Mutua, and his wife, Wayua Mueni, escalated into a physical tussle with the wife resorting to use the cooking stick, commonly known as mwiko, as a weapon of attack.

The women is said to have fled in a bid to hide from the wrath of the public but was found and arrested.

The accused is currently being held at the Mbooni Police Station as investigations into the incident continue.

The incident comes just a day after police in Embu arrested a middle-aged man for killing his wife for selling maize without permission.

It is reported that the man was agitated after he reached home and realized that the wife had sold a 2kg of maize meant for domestic consumption.

Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
