'Magic guitar?' Embu artists flock for auditions in race to win veteran musician's instrument, recording deal

Upcoming artists compete have enrolled for a chance to win a ‘lucky’ guitar donated by veteran Benga musician Newton Karish.
Karish donated the guitar and also pledged a record deal one upcoming artist.
With a music career spanning 4 decades, the Benga Maestro seeks to mentor talented youthful musicians who are faced by challenges on where to start.
in an event dubbed 'Guitar ya Karish', musicians will be required to audition to win the deal.
“There is need to mentor the youths in the music industry,” Karish said.
Out of 59 contestants, the winner is expected to become the flag bearer in the secular music industry in Embu county after the celebrated musician.
The finals of the competition are expected to be held on December.
