Magarini Member of Parliament Harrison Gharama
Kombe has suffered a heavy blow after the Court of Appeal upheld the nullification
of his victory at the August 2022 polls.
The court held that Kombe’s appeal against the
lower court’s decision nullifying his win had no solid grounds to warrant overturning
the said ruling.
Kombe flew the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)
party flag in the 2022 General Election, and was declared winner after
garnering 11,946 votes.
His closest competitor, the United Democratic Alliance
(UDA) party candidate Stanley Kenga, garnered 11,925 votes.
Magarini Constituency is now gearing to go back to
the polls following the court’s decision. The Independent Elecotral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is expected to issue a new date for the mini-polls.
