Linda Mwananchi group settles on Sifuna as its 2027 presidential candidate

In a statement issued after its leadership retreat on Saturday evening, the leaders, including Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Kakamega Senator Boniface Khalwale, resolved that:

Edwin Watenya Sifuna will be the leader and presidential candidate and will lead the unveiling of the party on whose ticket he will run in early October. 

Linda Mwananchi Movement will seek to build a coalition with like-minded parties that share a similar commitment to the people of Kenya.

The meeting also resolved to have Embakasi East MP Babu Owino backed for the Nairobi Gubernatorial Ticket through the Mwananchi Party ticket and former Meru county boss Kawira Mwangaza cleared to contest through her Umoja na Maendeleo Party. 

The leadership also resolved to remain united, guided by a common purpose of answering the call of Kenyans, which they say is to seek better governance and what they term as 'rescuing the country from the grave failures of the current administration.

According to the law, Political parties must submit the names and specimen signatures of their authorized persons to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (by Thursday, October 15th, 2026, ahead of the August 10th, 2027 General Election.
