Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Siaya Governor James Orengo said that the government has failed to take appropriate action against the recent cases of politically-linked goon attacks, including that against Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi.
He accused PS Omollo of being the chief mobiliser of the violent groups, wanting him to be apprehended and appropriate charges to be filed in court.
"We are extremely unsatisfied with how the investigations are going. We are seeing people who have not been summoned to record statements. The ring leader has not been summoned, PS Omollo has not been summoned," he said.
"If the police do not arrest and prosecute the mastermind, then we will institute private prosecution."
He added that the government has endorsed goonism in the nation, questioning why the President has remained tight-lipped on the vice as the nation spirals into political turmoil.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna claimed that the security sector is in charge of deploying goons.
"We will come to Kisumu on the 26th of this month to thank the people of Kisumu for identifying these people," Sifuna said.
The Linda Mwananchi leaders have already recorded a statement at the Parliament police station, threatening to take legal action.
Three suspects linked to Senator Osotsi's attack have been arrested and are awaiting arraignment.
The three are Carlos Owiti alias Kalonje (24) and Vincent Odhiambo alias Tinga (27), both from Nyalenda, and Eric Otieno alias Dude (39) from Manyatta.
Members of the opposition have faulted PS Omollo for the goon attacks, calling for his resignation.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has claimed that he has proven to be incompetent, and legal action will be initiated if he fails to step down.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua also blamed the Interior Ministry for the chaos witnessed on Saturday in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, ahead of a political meeting attended by him and other United Opposition leaders.
"Goons are now part of the National Police service and work alongside the police in causing chaos and unleashing violence against innocent Kenyans," he said on X.
"Police have confirmed to us in confidence that goons are deployed to work alongside the police on orders of CS Murkomen and PS Raymond Omollo," he added.
Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen has, however, come to his defense, claiming that the opposition is sponsoring goons and blaming the government.
"I saw some of the opposition leaders mentioning my PS (Omollo), I want to dare them to come out openly and denounce violence and denounce the goons and the gangs they are walking around with them…" said Murkomen.
PS Omollo has also warned against criminal gangs and politically instigated violence, vowing decisive action against those involved as security operations intensify in affected regions.
