Leopards CEO Namai backs club to shed ‘nearly-men’ tag

Ingwe’s hopes of winning their first KPL title in 28 years were agonisingly ended by arch-rivals Gor Mahia last season, who prevailed in the league’s run-in to reclaim their glory.

The 12-time champions finished second in the 2025/26 campaign with 64 points, falling short of champions Gor Mahia by six points in a tightly contested title race.

Namai has however tipped the team to finally get over the line after bolstering their squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

They have roped in key players including Taddeo Lwanga from Vipers SC of Uganda, Robinson Musungu from Mara Sugar, and Eric Naaman Balecho who was snapped up from Bandari FC.

Namai added that despite their second position finish their objective of getting over 76 points was not achieved, and they have taken the necessary measures to address the gap.

“Last season we had a target of finishing the league with at least 76 points but we managed 64. That means we missed 12 points because of some tactical mistakes which we identified and we have the solution,” he added.

Leopards are not only eyeing the Premier League title but also all other competitions' glory, said Namai, who also urged their fans to be ready for a great season.

“Our focus is not only the Kenya Premier League title but all other competitions that we will be involved in as a club so our fans should be ready for a successful season.”

“We have already made very big signings including some foreign players who will bring in their new experience and energy to the team, so we have ready for the season and we can promise we will deliver the best.”
