AFC Leopards are back in camp for pre-season training,
converging as a team for the first time since winning the Elijah Lidonde Cup at
Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega earlier this month.
Team Manager Albert Wesonga says he is aware that there are
high hopes from fans for the team to shine in the new 2022-2023 FKF Premier
League season.
“I don’t know who has told you that we are resuming our
training for pre-season today but nevertheless it is not far from the truth.
“There is a lot of hope and expectations from fans that the
team will do wonders this season and according to how we performed last season
I am confident that with good preparation the boys will aim for the best,” Wesonga
said.
Wesonga has stated that the Mater Hospital Gym training will
be useful in setting up the players for the new season.
Leopards are aiming to win the FKF Premier League title that
has evaded them for over two decades, flattering to deceive year in year out.
“We want to meet as a team so as to assess them; knowing who
has gained extra weight, who is in shape so we can officially start our
pre-season,” the former Nakumatt FC CEO stated.
Leopards’ sessions will be overseen by assistant coach Tom
Juma and goalkeeper coach Lawrence Webo as head coach Patrick Aussems is yet to
return from his holiday break in France.
