Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has resigned from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party, which is led by President William Ruto.

Havi formally announced his exit from UDA on Friday in a resignation letter addressed to the party Secretary General and copied to the Registrar of Political Parties. He, however, did not give reasons for his decision to exit the ruling party.

“I hereby give notice of resignation as a member of the United Democratic Movement (UDA) effective today, in accordance with Section 14 of The Political Parties Act, Cap 7D of the Laws of Kenya. Please, notify the Registrar of Political Parties of my resignation to enable the removal of my name from the membership list of the party,” the letter dated November 7, 2025, stated.

Havi joined the UDA Party in 2021, announcing his interest in running for the parliamentary seat in Westlands in the following year’s elections. He was received by party leader William Ruto, who was at the time deputy president alongside other political leaders.
