The title deeds were issued during a ceremony held at Tambul Primary School, where the PS said the Government was stepping up efforts to resolve longstanding land ownership disputes and regularise settlements across the country.
Nandi is among areas where large numbers of residents were displaced during the colonial period after land was taken over for settler use. The legacy of those displacements has contributed to longstanding land ownership challenges, including cases of residents occupying land without formal documentation.
Korir said the Government was committed to addressing historical land issues and ensuring residents received documentation for land they legitimately own.
“I have been sent here by His Excellency the President to bring an end to your long wait. We are undertaking efforts in all parts of the country and bringing services closer to the people,” the PS said.Tinderet MP Julius Melly said only a small proportion of residents in the constituency had title deeds, leaving many effectively without formal proof of ownership.
He thanked the Lands Ministry for prioritising the settlement scheme and urged the Government to extend the process to other areas facing similar challenges.
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei and Emgwen MP Josses Lelmengit also attended the event.
Kuria West MP Mathias Robi, who represented National Assembly Lands Committee Chairman Joash Nyamoko, said the issuance of title deeds demonstrated the Government's efforts to address land ownership challenges.
Robi also cited ongoing government projects in various parts of the country, including road construction, markets and housing, as evidence of the administration's development agenda.
