The department was named State Department of the Year at the 2026 Digital Transformation Public Sector (DTPS) Forum and Awards held in Mombasa.
It was recognised for several digital platforms, including the National Stamp Duty Module (NSDM), ArdhiPay, the National Land Information Management System (NLIMS) and Ardhisasa.
The National Stamp Duty Module won the State Department of the Year award and was also named first runner-up in the Best Digital Innovation, Financial and E-Commerce Services category.
The module automates the assessment and payment of stamp duty for property transactions, with the department saying it is intended to make the process faster and more transparent.
The department also won the Best Digital Inclusion and Accessibility Award for ArdhiPay, a platform that allows customers to make electronic payments for land-related services.
NLIMS was recognised with the Best Collaborative Government Digital Initiative Award, while it was also named first runner-up in the Best Digital Innovation, Natural Resource Management category.
Lands ICT Director Leonard Maritim received the NLIMS award on behalf of the Principal Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning, Generali Nixon Korir.
Meanwhile, Ardhisasa received the Digital Communications Excellence Award. The platform provides online access to a range of land-related services, while NLIMS supports the digitisation and management of land records.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy William Kabogo congratulated the institutions and individuals recognised for their contribution to digital innovation and service delivery.
The awards were presented under the theme “Advancing Digital Government, Enhancing Service Delivery”, bringing together government agencies, technology partners and development organisations involved in Kenya's digital transformation.
The State Department says the digital platforms are part of efforts to shift land administration from manual processes towards integrated and cashless service delivery.
The recognition comes as the government continues to expand the use of digital platforms in public services, with the Lands Department seeking to make land transactions more accessible and efficient for citizens.
