Lamu: Two killed, KDF soldiers among 10 injured in Al-Shabaab attack

Two people were on Tuesday killed while two
Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers were among 10 injured following an ambush by suspected Al-Shabaab militants at Bodhei area in Lamu County.
Reports say that at around 8:30am, a convoy
of Chinese and LAPSSET workers was waylaid by the assailants around
Algis-Malhadhon area, which is 7 kilometres away from the Bodhai Police Station
and GSU camp.
The convoy was leaving a Chinese residential
camp and was heading to a nearby working site when the incident occurred.
The assailants reportedly fired a
rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) towards a fuel tanker, tipper and pick up that
were part of the convoy.
KDF soldiers repulsed the attackers who
escaped inside the Boni Forest.
Both the deceased persons, who were occupants
of the fuel tanker, died on the spot.
Bodies of the deceased were taken to
Mpeketoni morgue, while those injured were taken to the Kenya Navy Hospital for
treatment.
